Casa de Santar was founded in 1790 and nowadays is one of the most well-known wineries of Dão region. With more than 200 years of history, its vineyard's dimension and its wines prestige are the base of Casa de Santar strength and awareness.
Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro, Jaen (red grapes) and Encruzado, Malvasia Fina, Cerceal Branco and Bical (white grapes) are the grapes we find in the largest Dão vineyard: more than 100 hectares - 90 hectares of red varieties and the rest of white grapes.
The largest Santar’s Vineyard section is Vinha dos Amores, a privileged slope with fortunate soil and sun exposure, where the best Encruzado and Touriga Nacional grapes are located.
Some of the most elegant wines of Portugal come out from this vast vineyard. With its uniqueness, Casa de Santar wines have managed to win the highest scores and prizes among national and international critics.
